Jessica Johnson

Founder & Executive Director

Losing my mother to overdose was an incredibly devastating experience that shook me to my core.   Witnessing firsthand the destructive power of addiction and its toll on my family and loved ones compelled me to become open minded and try to understand. That understanding came in the form of, if my mother could have saved herself, she would be here. God was compelling me to take action to help others.   Instead of succumbing to despair, I channeled my pain, anger, and grief into a drive for change.   I wanted to make a difference in the lives of individuals and their families struggling with addiction. I also wanted to prevent others from enduring the same pain my family had to endure.  This tragedy catalyzed my passion for working in mental health and substance abuse during my nursing career.   Through my loss and experience, I gained a profound understanding of the complexities of addiction. I quickly recognized the importance of support, empathy, and professional assistance in recovery.  I wanted to be a source of hope and guidance for those struggling with addiction, helping them find the strength to overcome their struggles.   For that reason, Brenda’s House of Hope was born in February 2022. A place where I can honor the legacy of my mother and continue our efforts of combating addiction and its devastating consequences for the women and families we serve.   If you or your loved one wants to recover from addiction, we are here to support you every step of the way.

Aimee Cotton

Executive Assistant & Alumni

Aimee began her journey at Brenda’s House of Hope in June of 2022. Serving as House Manager for 3 years Aimee had devoted her heart to helping women reach their fullest potential.  Our staff and residents alike have thrived under her leadership, and her passion is seeing individuals healed and living a life of recovery shows that it’s the heart behind what you do that leads people to a real change. She proudly serves as Executive Assistant and is grateful every day to be a part of Brenda's mission.

Ashley Lewis

House Manager

Ashley serves as a house manager at Brenda's House of Hope in her hometown, where her journey has come full circle. Once in the same position as the women she now supports, she returned with a deep sense of purpose: to walk alongside others as they find their way out of addiction. Drawing from her own lived experience, Ashley offers not just guidance, but understanding, compassion, and hope that feels real. In this role, she has discovered that her past is not something to outrun, but something she can use to light the path for others.
